Sailor Moon is one of the most popular anime in the U.S. Serena (aka Usagi in Japanese) is a 14-year old girl who attends Cross Roads Junior High.  Suddenly, she finds out that her destiny lies in being Sailor Moon, a champion of love and justice. Serena is at first reluctant to accept her duties, but finds out that with the other scouts and Tuxedo Mask by her side, she can do anything. The only major romance happening is between Serena and Darien.

Sailor Moon is a wonderful comical and magical series that is great for kids.  The idea is seemingly original enough, but the story and plot are a bit predictable. The characters do not develop at all. I like the show, but then it just becomes overwhelming when more and more scouts join the team. As the series progress, more Sailor Scouts enter.  Soon it seems so ridiculous to have so many scouts (around 10 if I remember correctly) who all happen to be female while Tuxedo Mask is the only male in the group. And I didn't even count in the Three Starlights (who blur the line between male and female because of the gender-switching thing). The Starlights are guys but transform into girls and in the manga, they are originally girls to start with.  Each episode, good guy fights bad guy. The music and voice-overs are fairly well-done enough. Even if the anime is not plot-oriented, I still watch it because it's fun. I saw the first and second movie and had to say that I had high expectations for it; they were both still great movies, but not the kind I would rave about.
