DRIGUS DESERT
The Violet Oasis

The scorched dryness of the desert slowly recedes as you pass through layers and layers a deep purple vines the shimer like amethysts and violet silk. The leave feel fuzzy and soft against your face as they crowd you.... A few more steps and you emerge into a veritable rainforest. The heat is gone, replaced by a heavy humidity, quite like that aof a sauna. Taking a few step, a fresh breeze hits you, bringing with it the smell of suculent citrus fruits and healthy greenery..... |

"Hile!"
A voice in the distance startles you and you whirl, seeing a flsh of gold from the corner of you eye. The creature moving toward you is like none you've ever before seen. It's coat shines a lusterous gold and it bears a crown of bright red hair that blends down along its back to a deep blue tale. It is graceful and fragile-seeming, yet its deep-set black eyes glimmer with sharp intelligence. It speaks....
"Hile, fair wanderer, and I apologize if I startled you, but you were about to step on a batch of Kat-mei plants. They are poisonous to your kind and I had to attract your attention somehow...." The strange creature bows and then stands tall again, introducing itself and extending one small, golden paw for you to shake. "I am Irayucsch'mpchetsrae, or Golden Darkness in your tongue. Call me Iray for short. I am the protecter of these lands am all they contain. This is the Violet Oasis, one of the moving lands of Avalon. Every 392 hours, which is approximately 16 days, this Oasis moves to another locale about the island, and I travel with it. There are severl of these moving places, some so well hidden that they have yet to be discovered....by us at least!"

You look about you, taking in the dark, clear blue of the tiny stream that runs from one end of the Oasis to to the other, bubbling up out of a cool spring to the north. In the center of the oasis, the water forms a deep pool where tiny golden fish swim. Exotic birds chirp in the trees and peck at the ground, including one that looks very much so like a mutant rooster... |
Seeing where you are looking, Iray introduces you to this unique and oblivious bird. "That little gut there is Chu'Immutsv, which really does mean Odd Rooster." The equine laughs a deep, but light laugh.

"So, you are probably wondering why this is all here, and why there are so few creatures living here." You nods and he continues. "Well, this place was set aside for a new Drigus who has has very recently hatched! He's groggy as he's just woken up from his nap, but there he is." You look where Iray looks and you do. It shines and glimmers and is indeed very hard to miss as it sits on its bed of vines by the side of the small stream. "His name is Cha'cwe, which means, very loosely interpretted, Oddball." Iray smiles a goofy crooked smile. "Though I am not privy to all the facts about this little guy's arrival, Azrielen had apparently entered a contest where the prize was a shiny new Drigus egg that would, and indeed has grown into a Drigus not unlike Har'Lie. Come back soon traveler, and watch as little Chu'Cwe grows! That is, if you can find us again!" The golden equine smiles wickedly and ushers you out the way you came. As you fight through the vines you see another creatue come from the brush behind you and stand by the baby Drigus, watching it calmly but constantly. It must be the little one's guardian, you think, probably set along with it to live here and watch. Notorious for being shy, you figure the guardian doesn't want company, so you continue on your way, letting the scorching heat of the desert beyond claim you once again..... | |
