The Domestic Dragon Herd
You enter the weyr under a roof-full of hanging stalactites, all of amazing jewel and strains of precious metal - glowing mineral barbs pointing down at you head. Light streams in from tiny holes in the cielig of the cave - you must be on one of the upper levels you think. The streams of light flow among the spires, playing tricks with colors and shadows along the walls and floor of the vast cavern. Among the shadows - for the room is primarily in darkness other than the spots and waves of colored light - lire six colorful dragons in pairs, nestled together in fast, clipped conversation in a liquid-beautiful language of clicks and guturrals. As you step into one of the lighter beams of sun, they notice you at last. One of the couples motions you to come closer.
The two that motioned to you speak first in a quick, accented voice - perfect English. "We are The Domestic Dragons - this is our herd," says the green, motioning to the other two couples of dragons lazing on the rocks. "I am Verde of the Mrel line, the leader queen of these dragons, and this is my mate--"
"--Rojo of Mrel," the red male says quickely. "Come," he continues. "Meet the others of our herd..."
A lovely blur male walks up to you followed by his yellow mate. He introduces himself as Azul of Mrola and his mate as Amarilla of Mrola. Amarilla seems skitish and Verde says that it is just her nature, what with the new surroundings and all!
The last couple walks up to you slowly and cautiously. Upon reassurance from the leaders, a purple female introduces herself as Verene'e of Mreshil, then introduces her mate as Oracle'e of Mreshil. The male seems to be - he is! - he's shifting colors! Like the bobbing and weaving of the lights along the floor, his skin seems to hhave soaked up color and he shifts with every movement! Beautiful!
