Waiting Hopefully

You enter the weyr, blinking and opening your eyes wide in the dark. Suddenly lights glare up into your eyes, blinding you! You jump back and rub your eyes furiously, but cannot get rid of the annoying glare spots. Through the spots, you see the little dragon from the entryhall flitting about the cavern, stopping in front of you just as your vision finally clears. He squeaks, swooping forward and sniffing you curiously. He suddenly recognizes you and his eyes light up with glee, like a small child.

He begins to speak to you now, all the while bustling about the weyr, cleaning rubble off the newly carved walls and the shiny granite floor whch is chilly under your feet.

"Thanks so much for coming. This weyr isn't much right now - it's just being readied for impression by Azrielen or one of the other few humans who live here. How do you like it so far? Roomy, lots of window slits and a great vew. All the walls are carved smooth from solid granite. That provides for a very nice effect on a clear night - all the stars reflect off the walls and the whole room seems so bright! There is a small fireplace over there for light and warmth with a chimney that lead directly to the main vents and then to the outside. The bench to the left of the fireplace is contoured to the basic shape of a dragon - it'll serve as their bed from the moment their get here. It's big enough to accomodate a dragon that is over 300 feet long from tip to tail - if they curl up that is! But this guy will be very litte, a Featherdrake! See the egg?"

He stops for a few seconds to breath and to lift a heavy rock into a little bucket in the corner. "Oh...I almost forgot. You've probably not met Azrielen, the Headmistress of this whole opperation and the main immpressor of the weyr. She's a very very busy woman, and very powerful as well. She controlls everything here - she's practically given up all her time to the animals. She rarely ever vacations, but she is always cool - never frazzled. Physically she looks far less powerful than she truely is. She's quiet, and pretty, but not beautiful I think. She's also very modest, but not shy when she has an opinion to express! She is short, only about five feet tall, with long brown hair and green or yellowish, depending on her mood. How could you describe her...willowy maybe. She's very pale and has ancient eyes. That would be her most unusual point. She is human, with all the human needs to eat and sleep, yet she is immortal. She grew to adulthood and, for no apparent reason, never aged again - except for her eyes, which show her 300 years perfectly and timelessly. She often looks sad, even though she is only pensive or thinking. She is cultured, even if she does not get out much. She is from Atlantis originally, the sunken one - of course it wasn't sunken then - and Atlantis is...was...reknown for its culture and diversity. Oh nuts, but enough about all this! You should just go talk to her yourself...we both have lots to do I'll bet. You may find her, or at least more about her, in the brand new Office Cavern! Good luck and thanks for coming by!
