Naranj'Col's Weyr

You enter a largish cavern and hear a soft rustling and crunching. Moving further into the dimly lit space, the sound become fractionally louder as you continue slowly, step-by-step. Soon, you are in the center of the cavern, standing on top of a warm dune of soft sand. Your feet slip as you head down the dune. At the bottom, you find the source of the crunching noise in a valley walled by dunes as tall as your shoulders. Buried in a thin layer of sand in this valley is a small egg. It rocks gently back and forth, every now and then falling silent, then beginning the rocking again in a pattern of shifts and bumps that end up spinning the egg slowly in a circle. Fascinated, you reach down and brush some of the sand from the hard shell and the egg jumps under your fingers, rocking violently, then resuming its pattern. It's pattern and colors, though hard to see in the dim light, tell you it is an egg of a Dragon from Sylvercloud Haven. You remember that they tend to be jumpy little guys, and see now that the egg is is rocking harder. Suddenly, it falls into a quiet spell again and the sheer silence of the cavern surrounds you. There is now breeze to shift the sands, as the cavern in one on the inside of the mountain, and no other animals are about, though on the opposite dune, you do see tracks that could be another dragon's. An attendant perhaps. You decide to leave before said attendant returns to find you with the little eggie....they might be angry at your unhindered intrusion. You decide against taking the chance..... |
