The Dragon Weyrs
AVENTH
You enter the weyr and see a lovely girl stroking the eye ridges of a creeling bronze Hatchling. A plate of raw meat sits in front of the dragon, who can still be considered small even though he weighs three times as much as a person. They grow so fast! You begin to wonder why it seems this female is a bronze rider. Usually only males bond with male dragons.
The rider looks up, brushing loose strands of hair out of her face. "Oh, I didn't even see you. Sometimes Aventh and I get lost in thought together," she smiles as she says this. "I know what you're probably thinking. Why have I, a woman, impressed a bronze dragon? Well you see, I am Azrielen...just Azrielen. I am also a shapeshifter. I can be almost anything - it's a highly skilled and very magickal talent. When I stood on the sands to impress, I was in male form. There are so few females during a hatching - and I'd been passed up twice already - that I knew I would at least stand a chance if I was in male form. What you see now is my prefered form, the one I was born with!" She smiles at you and then bows formally to you, displaying perfect rider etiquette. You walk out on the odd couple as Azrielen settles down to scratch Aventh's eye ridges. You can hear his humming of pleasure even as you walk out the door.
