Oh, little bird! I just can't believe it! How can this be? Why her? Why that sweet girl?
Last night, during their set, Shawn went backstage to get his Dobro for "Blue Water". He thought she was just kidding around. My God...she was lying down, on her back, with her arms wrapped around the Dobro, unconscious, or asleep, or worse. He thought she was just kidding around! God help me...I just don't understand how this can be...
Shawn found her like that...he touched her face; of course dreading how it might feel, (cold) but he did it, and, thank God, it was warm.
It's a fever; an infection they can't pinpoint. They said it hit 106.3'! Sheer terror!! Shawn, he flipped out. He moaned, and Lucy and Jossie heard and came running up. And meanwhile, my God, Elysia is out there doing a show! So, Shawn's flipping. But, they called Emergency and he collected himself enough to go back out and finish the set. So, Elysia made it through. The paramedics packed her in ice and took her to the hospital, and most of Elysia followed.
So, God, then we did our set. Can't even remember. I just wanted to get through it and run to her. More later, there's a meeting...
Rough meeting! It was for all of us; both bands, all the crew: "all hands on deck". Shawn and Elmer were standing there; Shawn could barely speak...lots of tears; we're all worried sick. Elmer did the talking. Told everybody what happened with Wren: She's in a coma, in the hospital. Said we would take a vote on cancelling the tour or not. I want to cancel and stay with her. A lot did. She's not a bandmember, though. Her absence supposedly won't or shouldn't affect our performances...total BS!
You know, Cornelius wasn't even around! Some "boyfriend", huh? Pig!
It was a tough vote, but, in the end, the majority (not me!) voted to continue, but we're going to try to re-arrange the schedule so we can have a week here. I'll spend it with her. I won't leave her side. And, I won't leave without her. I won't leave her alone in that hospital, damn it! She's not going to be abandoned in some Milwaukee hospital when we go back on the road! I'll see her through this!
Got to make some calls now.
