About e-1

We all met thru BASIC HTML Course that was offered by the embassy of the Philippines exclusively for all Filipinos in UAE under the Auspices of Overseas Worker Welfare Administration. (OWWA) and with the direct supervision of Filipino Computer Club FCC.

How did we start?

The group started because of the course requirement to have a presentation before you can have your certificate as a Webmaster. Twelve of us were chosen to be part of Group 1 of Batch No. 9.

How did we got the name e-1?

Name is an important factor in every area of endeavor. Whether it is an organization, a business or any entity needs a name. Your name should reflect who you are. There are reasons why we name things.

It's a long process of discussion and a lot of time consumed on how we got our group's name. Each suggestion is nice but to get even, to which name is suited for the group is a little bit difficult to decide upon. Several meetings had passed and we are still discussing the same topic- what name should our group bear. We started again from scratch. Roll call name suggestions. The last member of the group just simply reply "ewan". We thought that that's a suggestion. What she mean was really ewan! (a tagalog word which means "I don't know"). Filipinos are known of its ingenuity. They make good out of something silly with others. Suddenly we realized that there's an underlying idea and point on this suggestion. We realized that as we are young we are energetic, excellent, etc. What else? "e" symbolizes "electronic" like e-mail. e-wap, etc. That is the word "e". And the word "wan" sounds like "one". These letter combination could be the best name for Batch 9 Group 1. Since we are Group 1 that sound is indeed suitable for us. And again we realized that one symbolizes unity, camaraderie, excellence, success, being the best, etc. A lot of ideas came out of our minds and overflowing.

Thus the group was named "e-1".
