Would Somebody Please Kill Kenny? by Ben Church b_church@yahoo.com Feedback! Please! The Highlander concept, and the character of Kenny belong to Rysher I believe. "Hey mister!" Sean heard the voice immediately after feeling "The Buzz". He looked around, then looked down. There, standing before him, was what appeared to be, a child. But the buzz was coming from him, so he could be a thousand years old for all Sean knew. "Uh, what?" "You're like me aren't you." It was obviously not a question. The boy must be able to tell. "Uh, yeah. Why?" He grinned inwardly. He wanted to say "Are you here for my head?", but didn't. "I need help mister." The boy looked desperate. "There's this big Immortal, and he's after me." Sean sighed. "All right, c'mon to my room." He'd tell people it was his little brother or something. "On one condition." "What's that?" "For god's sake stop calling me Mr. I'm only 21." He thought for a moment. "How old are you?" "Isn't it obvious?" the boy said, as if speaking to a child. "I'm ten." "That's not what I mean." Sean said. "I mean, how old are you really? Sure, you look ten, but you're immortal. For all I know, you could be a thousand years old." "I'm not a thousand." the boy snorted. "Not even." "Well," Sean unlocked his door. "Maybe. But you get my point, and forgive me for being paranoid, but how do I know this isn't some elaborate ruse you play on unsuspecting Immortals? You get into their good graces, then kill them when they aren't looking?" "Jeez this guy is paranoid!" Kenny thought. "Granted, he's right, but hell!" "Incidentally, what's your name?" "Kenny." "I'm Sean. Pleased ta meet ya." He took a short sword out of his closet. "What's that for?" Kenny asked, backing up apprehensively. "You say you're only ten? That would mean you ain't been an Immortal long. So someone's gotta teach you. I just said ain't didn't I." "Uh, yeah, you did." "Damn, I've been in Virginia too long. Anyway, I can't make you the best swordsman in the world, but I can give you some basics, it should be enough to keep you alive long enough to find someone to teach you. "And, if I was anywhere near right, maybe you can learn how to win by the rules." He turned. Kenny was gone. "Huh." Sean said, and shrugged. "Guess I was right." Kenny sighed. "Well that certainly was a bust." He mentally scratched Sean's name off a list. "No way could I get to someone that paranoid." He kept walking. Ah well. Plenty of gullible Immortals in the world.
