More Vinyl

Bringing some healthy publicity for the reformed News, there was new vinyl imminent. Gavin had assisted Bruce Milne with 'The History of News', a double 45 pack. One 45 was (at last!) the Pulp Flexi, the other was a regular vinyl reissue of Dowannalove and Hate from the Babeez EP. Gavin's work was on the cover, which included dozens of press clippings on the band. It was an excellent package and it sold well, at least partly due to the fact that while many in Melbourne were aware that Babeez / News had pioneered local Punk, few knew how or why. This was down to many factors, but especially their practice of avoiding the 'above ground' live circuit and their patchy press coverage. The package also indicated Bruce Milne's continued interest in News, although it marked the end of his 'professional' involvement. Nobody Wants Me was not reissued on the Babeez half of the package as Keith Glass intended to use it. It duly appeared again, albeit credited to News, on the Missing Link Compilation LP 'Inner Sanctum' in mid 1979.
