Brown, James Polydor PD-14109 1972 Talking Loud and Saying Nothing (Part 1) James Brown - Bobby Byrd James Brown 3:15 Talking Loud and Saying Nothing (Part 1) James Brown - Bobby Byrd James Brown 3:15 # 27 (pop) # 1 (R&B) VG / VG (white label mono pressing with Brown's picture on the label) none $5.00 There It Is - Polydor PD-5028 The song apparently had somewhat of a tortured history. Brown originally wrote and recorded it in late 1970. The first version was recorded while he was still signed to King Records. Brown took the track with him when he left for Polydor and re-recorded it with his seminal early 1970s band including Bootsy and Catfish Collins. Perhaps due to the song's highly political message it didn't see a release until two years later when Brown grabbed it for inclusion on his second album for Polydor. Musically it's a pretty standard Brown jam, but the lyrics offer up a surprisingly activist take-no-prisoners slam at a wide variety of American evils. Very nice !!!
