Our Future - Today

Given Peterson was only six when he recorded these sides (with an assist from his father James Peterson and master bluesman Willie Dixon), the 45 stands as more of a novelty effort than anything.  The "A" side is basically young Peterson riffing on a series of numbers with some adults echoing the basic lyrics.  His little boy voice gives the song a little bit of charm, but for most folks once will be enough.  The flip side's actually pretty funny with Peterson going on and on about what's apparently his favorite foodstuff.  Nice organ solo and hearing Peterson scream at the top of his lungs is hysterical.  This is actually a reissue.  The 45 was originally released on the small Yambo label, with the Perception affiliated Today label acquiring national distribution rights.
