In spite of Curtis Mayfield's involvement (he's credited with co-writing and arranging - good guess that he also produced), it took me a while to warm up to this one. The 'A' side's atmospheric arrangement is classic Mayfield, though Clarence Burke Jr.'s lead vocal actually reminded me a little of young Smokey Robinson.
The flip side ballad had a more conventional structure, though benefited from the same sophisticated Mayfield sound.
