Critics have never been particularly kind to The Connells' third LP.  That's a shame since to our ears 1989's "Fun & Games" offers up a wonderful collection of jangle rock.  Largely produced by Gary Smith, the collection boasts a tougher, more rock-oriented sound.  Credit guitarist George Huntley for his five compositions, including 'Sal' and ''Motel.  Some fans were apparently put off by that new found direction, but to our mind it's a nice change of pace.  Mind you, exemplified by Mike Connell-penned selections such as ''Something To Say', 'Hey Wow' and the title track the group's affection for highly commercial, pop-rock melodies remained intact.
