We don't know much about this duo - singers Greg
Dempsey and (the rather attractive) Kathleen Yesse... In spite of the weird
name and dark album (the reason we bought the album), their 1968 self-titled
debut featured a collection of mildly entertaining folk-rock. Produced by
Leon Russell, "The Daughters of Albion"
featured 12 Dempey-penned originals (five were co-written by a Dave Luff).
For the most part tracks such as "I Love Her and She Loves Me",
"Candle Song" and "Yes, Our Love Is Growing" bore a
distinctive resemblance to the Mamas and Papas catalog, though Yesse
occasional sounded just like Mary Hopkins (check out her performance on
"Still Care About You"). Hardly the year's most distinctive
release, the set still managed to attract several favorable critical
reviews, though those endorsements did little for sales - the set vanishing
without a trace, followed in short order by the duo. (The album was
originally released with a gatefold sleeve.) "The Daughters of Albion" track listing 1.) I Love Her and She Loves Me (Greg Dempsey - Dave Luff) - 2:59 2.)
