With the band having signed with Charisma Records, United Artists wasted little time releasing a retrospective set.   With help from Dave Brock (he remixed the material), "Roadhawks" featured a mix of live and studio material from the 1970-75 era.  To someone who's not a major Hawkwind fan, the set's actually quite good.  "Hurry Sundown" stands as an attractive ballad that you wouldn't normally associate with these guys.  More typical are the instrumental "Paranoia" (easy to picture legions of teenage boys tripping to this one on mushrooms and an overdose of beer) and the live "Silver Machine".  It's a nice introduction to the band's early/mid-'70s catalog and probably worth owning just for the hard to find  "Guerilla".  Briefly released as a single, the track was dropped after a series of IRA bombings in London.  The BBC apparently thought the song contained pro-terrorism lyrics and banned it from airplay .

"Roadhawks" track listing:

2.) Paranoia (instrumental)

3.) You Shouldn't Do That (live)

4.) Silver Machine

5.) Guerrilla

6.) Space Is Deep   (Dave Brock) -

7.) Wind of Change (instrumental)   (Dave Brock) -

8.) Golden Void    (Dave Brock) -
