Okay, okay, this isn't rock and roll. We'll readily admit that. In fact, the main reason we actually ought this LP (other than the goofy attempt to find a 'hip' audience), was the fact it was released by Enoch Light's Phase 4 label. Known for it's meticulous attention to sound details, we were curious to see what this set would sound like on a classy stereo.
Just in case you were curious, Ted Heath started out as a trombone player, but in the mid 1940s started his own band. Probably the best known British band leader during the 1950s through his 1969 death, Heath recorded dozens of LPs. It's all MOR stuff of little or no interest to rock collectors, though 1969's "The Ted Heath Orchestra Plays Beatles, Bach & Bacharach" (one of Heath's final projects - he died the same year), at least featured MOR covers of some pop hits. For what it matters, technically tracks such as "You'll Never Get to Heaven" and "Let It Be" certainly sound good on a quality stereo system.
