Author's note:
obviously, it's a songfic...the song is a sort of "classic" I suppose,
coz it's from way back when I was still in 5th grade...1994, I guess... good and
so touching if you listen to it. I was writing this fic while listening to it
and it really made sense, I guess...but I was choosing between Graushaila/Shaila
or Zelgadiss/Amelia...guess who won...
Well anyway, don't wanna make this long, so here goes...
As the days go by
With all my tears run dry
I take a look at my life
With eyes open wide...
Amelia looked
outside her window, gazing out at her soon to be kingdom. She looked up at the
skies, remembering the past...and would she ever forget Zelgadiss?
"Zelgadiss-san, I'm going to be queen soon...I've been engaged to a man
whom I think I don't really love...my wedding is tomorrow...but I don't think I
want to survive today to give for it..." she spoke as if he was there.
As I try myself to be

But the pain lingers on
You know I can't go on...
She recalled those times when they were still together, and even though she thinks she got over all of it, she still cried herself to sleep...

Yet she continued to move on, hoping that he will soon return to her. But each day passed and no sign of him.

Amelia hoped that he's thinking of her...even though she's somewhat convinced that he's not the kind of person to be bothered by such things...when he's busy searching for his cure.

She went to her bed, ready to fall asleep, not quite excited about the wedding. "Useless...he doesn't love me...Zelgadiss never loved me..." she thought sadly.

And suddenly, Xelloss appeared before her. She was shocked to see him after so many years. "Xelloss-sama!?" she said in surprise.

I can't understand.
It's hard to find someone
Who could ease my mind...
Xelloss' expression was serious. "I came here to say something about Zelgadiss-san." he said. Amelia swallowed hard. She suddenly felt so scared. "What is it?" she asked.
Still the pain lingers

You know I can't go on...
"Zel's
dead." he continued.
Amelia was shocked. She wanted to scream but she couldn't do so, so she just let
her tears fall. "No way..." she said hoarsely. She came to Xelloss,
feeling her legs shaking as she walked towards him. "It's not true! He
can't be dead! He always succeeded in battle...he could...no one...no one can
kill him!" she said.

Xelloss opened his eyes and he got a red gem and a bracelet from his pocket. Amelia recognized the red gem...it was attached to Zelgadiss' cape; and the bracelet was hers.

"He was
holding this bracelet when he died...mazoku destroyed him...I witnessed
it..." Xelloss explained.
Amelia got the gem and the bracelet and stared at it
Hopin' next time that we meet you'd stay...
"He was on his way here to return to you. He'd like to see you again...and mind me, he's cured. But..." Xelloss stopped. Amelia kissed the gem.
No matter how much I try...
Xelloss stepped
forward and grabbed Amelia by the neck. Amelia accidentally let go of the
bracelet but she held the gem, clutching it tightly as she struggled.
"He's got last words to me that I came here to fulfill them...he told me
not to let you marry another man but him...I have no choice now but to kill you,
Amelia-san. Don't worry, you'll suffer no more and you will be together at
last..." he explained
You still make me cry...
Amelia smiled
weakly and stopped struggling. "Thank you, Xelloss-san..." she said
before she released her last breath and finally, died.
Xelloss let go of her and she fell to the floor with a loud "thud".
Xelloss closed his eyes, smiling. Then he left her there...
Amelia's lips were curved into a gentle smile, with Zel's gem still in her
grasp...
