Vignette 2: Dimeara's Legacy

Allrelen

Allrelen...6,000 years ago....

Dimeara ran, sparing only the briefest glance over her blonde shoulder at the Beast chancing her. Thorns and bushes slapped and cut her beautiful face as she desperately flew through the forest behind the Crystal Palace, panting but telling herself that she must continue.

A blur to her right made her scream, as she stilled to look wildly around her, her red Sarong ripped beyond reaper showing off parts of her body that would have made even her beloved Life-Mate, Dante blush.

A growl sounded in the distance and Dimeara started to pant more heavily as she once again began to run, kicking off useless high healed shoes as she went, not bothering to grimace as the thorns cut into her now bloody feet.

She passed towering buildings as the screaming siren pierced through the air. She winced sadly. They were looking for her, noticing that their beloved Queen was missing.

They would be too late.

She knew that in the bottom of her heart as she jumped over a small puddle on the ground and sprinted deeper into the forest.

Time was still as she ran, knowing in its soul she was only drawing out the impossible.

A wall was standing in her way as she turned a sharp corner, seemingly trying to block her destiny....she didn’t slow down. Lifting her hand as she ran, tendrils of blue fire dancing out of her finger tips and smashing the marble wall in front of her, letting her pass.

She didn’t slow...she never would again....her unknown quest was too important...to her and her beloved family. That thought made her wince, she looked down guiltily, knowing that she was sentencing her family to everlasting pain and sorrow, emotions that had to be felt, their worlds depended on it.

Oh, to be born to the Tharran.

Her baby....

She had just dodged a large dark green tree when hands reached out from behind and grabbed her around the waist, pinning her hands to her sides as the Beast covered her now screaming mouth with its dark skinned hand. The First Queen lashed out, wiggling to get free. A sharp blow to the side of the head made her pause, blood now trickling down her powerful temple, mixing with her long blonde hair. Her moon flashed bright orange, dyeing the night. The Beast flinched, but tightened his grip anyway.

She feel limp in his impossibly strong arms, knowing that fighting was useless. Her powers could not work on something so....

He threw the immortal Queen to the ground in front of him. She landed hard, the breath flew out of her. She gathered herself up on her elbows and looked up into the face of her killer, unconsciously wiping blood off her bleeding lip.

He walked closer so that he was towering above her, a dark shadow blocking out the 12 moon of the planet she loved so much, the planet she was destined to rule and bring to greatness...and planet she would now die for.

The Beast crouched down beside her, knowing instantly that she would not retaliate. Reaching out a finger he softly tranced the outline of her right breast that was heaving beneath her straining silk top.

Dimeara flinched, trying to will herself not to cry out in disgust. Knowing it would only feed his angrier. But he noticed and quickly sent a forceful slap to her face, the strength of the blow forcing Dimeara’s ringing head to the side.

He leaned over her, his heavy weight pushing her tiny body into the hard ground. His lips were inches from her dainty ear.

“I don’t see why I can’t have some fun with you before I kill you, Dimeara. Do you?” His mocking words rung close to her ear as she looked up into Allrelen’s night sky in horror.

No....

But, yes. The Beast took her forcefully, her mind paralysed in terror as she endured the torture.

Over and over again...

And when she was too far gone to notice he had now stopped he leaned back on his heals and admired his handy work. A sneer printed on his lips.

He brought the slicing knife out of his clock quickly, turning it this way and that, seemingly admiring it lustre in the moonlight. The sneer disappeared as a evil, distorted emotion relaced it.

Dimeara looked up through weakened eyes as the knife lowered, the moons she loved so much dancing proudly in the sky.

And as her last moment approached, The Beast whispered in her ear,

“Dominatio per Malum”

Power through Evil.

And it was then she knew her family was doomed....

3,000 years later...

Tandira was bored.

Blowing out a frustrated breath of air she looked around the primming Ball room. It really did look beautiful tonight, she mused. Done up with flowers and decorations as the people laughed and danced the Allrelen right away. Tandira stood, behind a curtain away from everyone else, just watching the festivities from a distance.

She wished not for the first time that her mother was here with her. She looked down sadly with the memory. Dimeara had been dead a very long time now and still Tandira missed her, missed the hero that she was. Missed the love that only her mother could give her.

Tandira shook her blonde head. It wasn’t healthy to be dwelling on the past like that, but she had loved her mother very much.

A movement out of the corner of her eye made her spin. The tiny bells on the paper thin silk dress that she wore chimed in the movement but otherwise she was silent as her green eyes sort out the face.

There he was....

A dark figure on the other side of the ball room, leaning in the shadows but obviously watching her intently, a blank look on his dark, chiselled face. Tandira shivered and looked down at the marble floor, not expecting the reaction she was getting at *all*. Somehow sensing that he was still staring at her, the Second Queen timidly raised her blonde head and found him regarding her with a stone cold face, his eyes unreadable.

Then he turned. She sucked in her breath, ignoring the curious looks she received from the noblemen and woman who were standing not to far away from her. Silently, with longing in her green eyes, Tandira watched the dark man turn on his heals briskly and stride out of the room, completely ignored by those he passed. She bit her lip, looking quickly at her guards who were chatting beside her, not paying any attention to her.

Making her decision, the Queen quickly walked out from behind the curtain and, sticking to the shadows, she silently followed the dark man out of the room. Not knowing why she was doing it, or what possessed her to make chase, Tandira quickly brushed a long strand of curly blonde hair away from her face and jogged down the deserted corroder, picking up the hem of her thin dress to make it easer to move.

Looking out a tall window and searching with her eyes, she saw him briefly walk out of the Palace gates and head into the forest. Tandira smiled, knowing that if she was to have a secret alliance with a male - one that was *not* in her social circle - than that was the perfect place to do it, the Council would never find out. She sniffed, it wasn’t like it would be the first time....

Briefly looking up into one of the many huge portraits of her mother, Dimeara, as she quickly ran down the servant’s passage so no one would see her, Tandira smiled softly up at the regal image of the beautiful woman in the painting. It showed Dimeara the way she seldomly looked, but how everyone always saw her. In a floor length ball gown, her hair loose, looking with her jade eyes up and the stars and planets that she had help build and bring together. Tandira held back a sob, knowing that even if she barely remembered her mother - she had only been five and the time of Dimeara’s murder - she knew that she would never forget her, and nether would anyone else...

Dimeara’s Legacy....

Tandira paused as she slipped, unnoticed, out of the Palace gates. Turning her head she looked back at the intimidating form of the Crystal Palace, standing tall against the night sky, the 12 Allrelen moons shining proudly. Tandira looked away quickly, knowing she shouldn’t be doing this, it went against everything her family stood for, but her hunger had to be satisfied somehow...

She shook her head, forcing those thought away as she hurried to catch up with her dark stranger...

...not knowing that she would never see her home again....

And two hours later, when the search finally began for their missing Queen, nobody noticed the retreating form of the Beast. The dark man, whose slicing knife went unnoticed by all as he finally stood up and casually put it back in his clock. He smiled evilly, looking down at the bloodied body of the dead Queen Tandira, her beautiful body beautiful no longer.

He started to move away, noticing that the search parties would be here any second. But then he paused, going back and bending down to the still Queen’s unmoving body. He racked his eyes up and down her body, seemingly pleased. Then he lowered his lips to her ear, whispering words of death and terror...

“Dominatio per Malum” he said quietly.

Power Through Evil.

And the Beast knew his job was not done...

1,000 years ago....

Semarritte giggled, swatting Afraya’s hand away from where he had been tickling her bare toes. Afraya laughed happily at her reaction, sighing as his beloved life-mate snuggled in deeper to his chest from where she was laying in his arms.

They were both sitting on top of a large hill behind the Crystal Palace, late in the afternoon, watching the sun set. It had become sort of a tradition for the two of them, being some of the only time where they could spend together in peace. Afraya tightened his arms about Semarritte’s waist with that thought, knowing that every spare minute of both of their days was spend hopelessly searching for their missing Princess, Everynne.

As if she had sensed his thoughts, Semarritte sighed unhappily, sagging her shoulders. “I just don’t know what else to do, Affe.” she told him out loud, using her pet name for him. Afraya didn’t reply, only hugged her tightly and rested his chin on the top of her blonde head.

She understood his silence, but carried on anyway. “I just feel so useless!” she raged, thumping the green grass beside her. Again Afraya didn’t say a word so Semarritte wiggled in his embrace and turned around in his arms. Placing her arms around his blue neck, Afraya looked up and found himself confronted by her troubled green eyes.

Oh how he loved her....

“What else can you do, my love?” he said in a soft voice, not for the first time wishing that they had never sent Everynne to Earth in the first place.

Semarritte’s face fell, her creamy skin looked tired and worn, Afraya knew how much this was taking out of her...and she still so young....

“Will we find her, Afraya?” she asked in a tiny voice, as if she couldn’t bring herself to hear the answer. But Afraya only grimaced visibly, picking her pale hand up gently in his own blue one and softly trancing the lines of her veins. She bent her blonde head to watch him, silent.

“We will, my love.” Afraya told her life-mate quietly. “Dimeara said so, and she would never be wrong, you know that, Shari.”

Semarritte sighed unhappily, but nodded her head. “Grandmama was very wise, Affe. But she has been dead a long time now...along with mama.” Her angel voice cut off sharply and Afraya clucked his tough sadly, gathering her in his arms tightly, feeling his heart break as Semarritte tucked her powerful head under his chin in a scared gesture.

They stayed like that for a few minutes, both lost in their own thoughts. Semarritte looked up into the setting sky from a crack in Afraya’s arms, silently begging the Powers to give her daughter back to her....oh, how she missed her. She had only been two weeks old when they sent her to Earth...how she must have changed.

Semirritte looked down at the grass, wondering what her missing daughter’s life was like, hoping the woman she had left Everynne with was looking after her, that she had friends who understood her, for Semarritte knew she would never be normal...no matter what planet she lived on.

Afraya was wishing not for the first time that Everynne would have been his...to have a child be Shari was his life’s dream....and now he never would.

Suddenly he stiffened, her eyes glassing over. Semarritte noticed his change in posture and looked up, confused. When she saw he was Pathing she opened her jade eyes wide, opening the link so she could hear what was being said.

< Captain? > a hesitant voice broke through their heads. Afraya sighed. < Yes? > he replied in a crisp voice, annoyed for being interrupted.

The voice startled with the firm reply and Semarritte could clearly see the young Talent sweating under his collar. She sighed and swatted Afraya on his shoulder, telling him to be nice. He shot her back a fake innocent look which she returned with her eyebrows raised.

Afraya grinned. < What’s the matter, Mr Falic? > he asked, and Semarritte huffed happily with his nicer tone of voice.

< We need you back her, Sir. > the young man replied. < Captain Asten needs to speak with you urgently. >

Afraya nitted his eyebrows in annoyance. < Can’t it wait? > he asked. < I’m having a break. >

Their was a pause, then Afraya and Semarritte both heard a small cough in the male’s voice. < He said in a of great importance, Sir. > he said cryptically. Afraya was just about to tell the young man to tell Captain Asten to wait when Semarritte broke through.

< Mr Falic, tell Captain Asten that Afraya will be the shortly, and in future have the man contact us personally. > she told him, adding a mental smile to take the sting out of her words.

Falic breathed a sigh of relief, he was sure he was going to refuse.

< Thank you, Lady Semarritte. > he told her on a private line, Afraya not hearing it.

The link was broken. Semarritte turned and faced her beloved, laughing out loud at the scowl that had formed on his dark blue lips. He looked at her accusingly. “Why did you go and do that?” he asked, sulking.

“Because, my love. If they find out we have been up here there will be hell to pay.” she poked him in his broad chest. “As you very well know.”

His shoulders rumbled as he laughed, knowing the words she spoke where true. After a few minutes he learned her forward and got to his feet, looking down at her tiny form still sitting on the warm grass. They locked eyes, both smiling gently at the other, their love dancing between them.

She looked so young laying there, Afraya mused. In nothing but a short midriff top that woman found appropriate in the summer and a silver sarong. Her legs where bare between the split in the thin sarong, falling to her bare feet and perfect little toes.

Semarritte giggled at his inspection, knowing where his thoughts now lay. He groaned at her laughter, bending at the knees to scoop her up into his hard arms. Afraya gently tranced his fingers up and down her exposed back, making her pale skin tingle. They stayed in the embrace for a moment, just content to hold each other, before Semarritte sighed and gently pushed her life-mate away from her.

“Go on, get lost before I change my mind.” she said, smiling brightly. He cocked her head and gazed at her. “Your not coming?” he asked, a hint of longing noticeable in his voice.

She laughed. “Nah, I’ll stay out here for a few more minutes.” She paused and looked out at their impressive view from the top of the tall hill the were standing on. The Crystal Palace towered high and proud, its contents coming through the huge front doors for the night, the darkness chasing them...

Afraya nodded his head, respecting her decision. Closing the few feet separating them, he gathered her in his arms and kissed her gently on her forehead, above the flashing moon. Semarritte smiled softly and wound her arms around his neck.

“I love you.” she whispered in his ear.

“Ditto.” was his reply, a quick squeeze enforcing his words.

And with that he disappeared from her arms. Semarritte frowned, “Show off.” she muttered under her breath as she took a deep breath and started to walk down the side of the hill, through the bushes that made up the senary....not knowing she would never return.

She hummed to herself happily as she casually walked through the many Palace gardens, stopping sometimes to inspect a pretty flower or to frown at a dieing leaf, not knowing that her destiny lay around the corner.

Semarritte gasped in surprise as she found herself walking into her favourite garden, the overgrown trees and flowers seemingly greeting her with the honeyed smell. She sighed in pleasure and closed her eyes, breathing in their sent. Opening her eyes, they lit up as she noticed her swing swaying slightly in the evening breeze. Giggling out loud to herself she quickly ran over and stopped when she stood in front of it, running her hands gently up and down the thick ropes that held it together, memories surfacing.

Her mother had helped her make this swing.....

Semarritte sighed unhappily as she slowly seated on it and gently swung herself back and forth, deep in thought. Afraya would be worrying by now.....

A sharp pain made her cry out, her back feeling as if she was on fire. Semarritte’s back arched, causing her to fall soundlessly of her swing in a heap on the ground, the knife still inbeded deep in her skin.

The pain was unbearable...never had she felt such pain...

Who would want to hurt her?....

A shadow fell across her face, blocking out the Allrelen moons that were now visible in the nights sky. Semarrite started to pant, her vision swimming. But still, with a the poison that was now pulsing through her blue veins, she found the strength to lift her head and stare up and the frightening figure of her killer above her.

The Beast stared back.

Semarritte’s eyes opened wide as she recognised him, knowing now she would die.

For her daughter....she would do anything.

The Beast bent down beside her, crouching on his strong legs. His silver eyes flashing with murder in the night sky.

Semarritte groaned, her head falling back to the ground, feeling her energy and power flow out of her like a stream. “Hello, Semarritte.” a voice floated down from above her.

“Ive been searching for you for a very long time.” the voice added, but still she made no comment. The Beast snarled, grabbing a handful of her blonde hair to tug her head up forcefully so they were face to face. She screamed silently in pain, the movement causing her eyes to cross.

“i’m losing my temper, my Lady.” The Beast sneered into her ear. “Tell me what I want to know.”

She looked up at him, knowing she would never reveal what he searched so desperately, she would take it to her grave.

“Never.” she hissed weakly, knowing in would enrage him. The Beast roared, growling as he sent a swift kick to her midsection, causing her to scream.

But knowing that he would never get an answer out of her, he bent down so they where face to face.

“I will kill your daughter, Semarritte.” he said firmly and her eyes opened wide in horror.

“No...” she whispered and he laughed out loud. “Didn’t you know?” he became serious. “I have killed every member of your family, Lady Shari. And I will not rest until the cycle is broken.”

She looked up into his silver eyes, knowing in her heart that his words were true.

Her darling daughter...

“Please, leave her alone.” The Third Queen begged. “She is an innocent in this, she does not know.” she had to get him to understand.....

But he only laughed, his evil head falling back as he roared with laughter, the fallen Queen laying dying at his feet.

He brought he head down again, watching her suffer intently. “Then you should never had been born.” he whispered down at her, reaching down to yank the knife out of her back only to stab it in deeper.

She screamed.

But the Beast quickly stood up, cocking his head as he heard the search party closing in on them. Knowing they would be there any minute, he turned his attention back to the dying Queen, smiling down at her.

“Dominatio per Malum”

He whispered to her, chucking as she gasped in surprise at his words.

And with that, he seemingly disappeared into the night.

But he job was not done....

Afraya found her five minutes later, his eyes opening in horror as he turned the corner and found her laying there in a pool of her own blood. The party had stopped frozen in their tracks, staring down at the impossible...

Afraya broke the spell first, falling to his knees at his life-mates side, crying as she cried out weakly when he gathered her in his arms. The wounded man lifted his tear streaked face to look at his followers, knowing as they did that their Queen was going to die.

“It has happened again, hasn’t it?” his helpless voice cut the air. Captain Asten nodded, his gaze never breaking from the dying Queen in her lover’s arms, both of them now covered in blood.

Afraya screamed, his head now bent up towards the sky.

“Leave them alone!” he screamed to the Gods in the sky. “They are only babies, yet you continue to take them from us!”

The others now started to sob, their worlds now in chaos.

But the sky gave no answer, yet Semarritte continued to slip away. Afraya turned to his love, starting to cry when he found her eyes open and watching him blankly.

“Find my baby, Afraya.” she whispered...and she was gone.

She died with fear in her heart.

Following her family to the stars, their legacy far from complete, knowing that soon in time, their powers would be needed, their baby’s life depended on it....

Afraya felt her slip away, his shoulders sagging as her grip on his finger slackened and her pale hand fell lifelessly to the soft ground below.

Afraya’s scream could be heard in the stars....

And from his position behind a tree, covered by darkness and undetected by the mourners, The Beast smiled at the sight, his work here complete...a planet far away called him now.

Zanial raised his silver eyes to the sky, knowing he would hunt and destroy this family for the rest of his life.....

“Dominatio per Malum”

Power through Evil.

And on a distant planet called Earth, A Slayer was called.....her destiny everlasting....And an Angel watched....and waited.

Present Day.....

Zanial stuck to the shadows as the Young Prince ran into the now shield free Gate room, heading quickly to the Transceiver to input the code to excape his life on Balteiar.

He saw it all.....

He noticed before the Young Ash, Methos sneaking into the room, the guards all falling into places as they raised their weapons on the Boy’s desperate form.

He saw it all....

He stuck to the shadows, not breaking his silence as Methos mocked his son, seeing the Anger and the burning for revenge in the Young Warrior’s eyes as he was told of his mother’s end.

He saw it all....

As Ash gave a cry and fled to the now chaos full gate to an unknown planet, Methos’ fury ringing throughout the room.

He followed.

And now, as he stood outside a building on the planet Earth, he watched the young Prince, leave disheartened, the girl...Semarritte’s grandchild, ripped from his arms.

He saw them dance...he knew they loved.

And as Ash left the building, the opposite direction of the Princess, Zanial formed a plan.

And he smiled...the shadows called to him.
