ABC 2/10/01 9:54:46 The U.S. State Department warning of attacks on U.S. citizens and factories by radical Indonesian groups has resulted in dozens of family members of Nike and Adidas employees' leaving Indonesia. Company officials say 27 expatriate Nike employees and 18 Adidas workers could follow their families at any time. Executives say they are reconsidering ways to protect and even evacuate tens of thousands of employees worldwide while ensuring the smooth flow of production. Since the terrorist attacks, Nike has taken extra precautions to lower risk to its employees and offices abroad, including hiring extra security personnel in some locations. Nike and Adidas have tried to spread the risk to their production streams by contracting with factories in numerous countries. If work at any one factory is halted, the companies could redistribute production elsewhere. 2/10/01 9:54:46
