Violence Continues In Indonesia's Aceh, Maluku
JAKARTA (AP)--Five people, including a soldier and two rebels, were killed in
separate incidents in Indonesia's restless Aceh province over the last 48 hours, local
military spokesman Lt. Col. Firdaus Komarno said Tuesday.
Meanwhile, in the eastern Maluku islands, unknown assailants opened fire on a
passenger boat, killing three people, the state-run Antara news agency reported.
Police weren't available for comment.
The attack took place in waters close to the provincial capital, Ambon, which has
been devastated by three years of fighting between Christians and Muslims.
At least 9,000 people have been killed in that conflict.
