took the old bumper off friday night



went to the 4 wheel parts retail store in portland on saturday, they gave me this.
then i bought two black tow hooks (which they sold to me for half price).



then i asked them if there were any junkyards around, that i was looking for some SR5 alloy wheels.
one of the employees had a set that he wanted to get rid of so i got this set of
wheels with lug nuts and center caps for $40. i was really pleased.
two of these will be for my spare tires, the other two will collect dust.



so here it is, tipping the scale at 83 pounds!



while i had easy access to the grill, i figured that it would be a good time to make a
radiator rock guard out of some expanded steel mesh. attached with 6 zip ties.



this is one side of the frame bolts, 6 large bolts. also the 2 large bolts for the tow hook. not in picture is the two mounting bolts from the stock bumper, 8 total mounting bolts for each side, 16 total, this is serious strength.



These turn signals are from my folks' 87 4runner



i retrofited my old bumper on their truck



beefy tow hooks are the perfect finishing touch



As far as i'm concerned, this is the strongest bumper in the world.
The look and attitude that comes with it is just right.
