London, ON - Another high-ranking RCMP officer is at the centre of an internal probe, The Free Press has learned. Michel Seguin, commanding officer for the RCMP's Ontario headquarters, confirmed yesterday the actions of an officer in the workplace are being investigated. While he wouldn't identify the officer, sources said it is Chief Supt. Ben Soave, who heads the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit (CFSEU), which probes organized crime in Ontario. Two RCMP officers have looked into the allegations for about six weeks, Seguin said. He wouldn't say how many allegations there are, but a source said they stem from 22 complaints of harassment. It's unclear from where the complaints originated. Soave's office is in Toronto, but he was based in London for about two weeks as acting commanding officer during an internal probe in September involving then-commanding officer Bradley Holman. Holman announced his retirement shortly after the investigation into his conduct in the workplace began. The RCMP said that investigation is nearing completion. (London Free Press B4)
