Al's - 5 h.p. GRAY (Nelson Brother's) Engine

Al Says ~

Here are pictures of the 5HP. Definitely a Nelson Bros product. Change the
nameplate, and it is a Maynard, or anything else you want. Interestingly, the
Serial # is 5555. Unlike the earlier engines, the paint was a fairly bright red, with
yellow striping. This can faintly be seen on the right-hand flywheel where it was
protected by the pulley. Reproduction igniter by Ted Brookover, otherwise complete,
but very moldy. This engine ran a cordwood saw in Claremont, NH. The man that
I purchased it from remembered it from 40-45 years ago. I would estimate this engine
to date from the late teens. Al Wait
