Snowboard
and Ski Section
I started snowboarding when I was
16, back when boards had Swallow Tails. I have enjoyed watching the
sport grow, from the times when we were only allowed on some hills and
then only on designated slopes. The sport has changed allot since
then, the tricks have gotten more complex and the pros have gotten more
respect.
Powderhorn Mountain, Michigan
Snowboarding
was the first board sport I got involved with. I think it really
changed the way I viewed life. I had seen surfing before, and as
most midwest kids, really like the hole idea(well every kid I knew owned
at least one Ocean Pacific shirt). When I first saw snowboarding
I decided that I had to try it cause it looked just like surfing.
I soon noticed skateboarding and decided to learn that too. The reason
that I say it changed my life, is because I viewed people differently from
then on. I was no longer just a jock, I was on the edge of those
clicks which high schools seem to breed and colleges don't condemn.
I was told that I would never be able to go as fast as a skier or through
the moguls, but I proved them all wrong.
Vail, Colorado
Snowboarding will always
be one of my favorite sports, although living in San Diego has made it
harder for me to get to the hills. My wife Ratih is currently learning
to ski, but plans to learn both. I look forward to taking my children
to the slopes, and hope to meet more friends who love to shred.
