Our trips predominantly take
place in the Western Desert around and off-road between the oasis. Trips range from
overnight outings near the Fayoum to longer ones up to 10 days from Siwa to Kaharga
stopping at an oasis every third day for gas, food, and water. Group sizes have been from
2 to 7 bikes, 4 to 5 seems to be the optimum number on bigger trips. Cars will join us
occasional on weekend trips, what they lack in speed is compensated by their carrying
capacity. I feel the luxery they bring is appreciated after a long ride but distracts from
the riding itself. A typical day of riding would consist of around 200 km, finishing the
day around 4:00, sunset on top of a dune with a warm scotch, dinner (typically tuna fish
sandwhiches), and bed by 8 or 9.
