Randy A. Smith
dispels any stereotypes
or beliefs that most people seem to have regarding their golden years as
he defies conventional wisdom that says athletics are for the young.
Today's "mid-life crisis" spurs a reawakening. It did with Randy, in
fact...he's just hitting his stride. At the age of 50, Randy picked up
where he left off more than 25 years ago--at the sprinters' starting
block. He wants to look good, feel great and revel in the best time of his
life. With these outstanding qualities, Randy keeps his eyes focused on
the goal of a healthy mind, body and spirit.
After a 25 year hiatus, this overweight and out-of-shape native of Montego, Bay, Jamaica, began training in December 1997. He started achieving remarkable results and accomplished a feat never before imagined. At his first track meet im March 1998, after only three months of training, Randy ran the 100 meter dash in 11.5 seconds--only three seconds off the 11.2 world record. He kept running, he kept training and he kept winning. After 18 track meets, Randy compiled an undefeated record in 1998 in the 50, 100 and 200 meter categories. "It's time to break out of the box, push the envelope, challenge the stereotypes and go for my ultimate dream-going for the Masters World Record in the 100 meters", says Randy. Excelling his entire professional life, Randy moved to Houston in 1980 from New York where he continues to be a executive in the recruiting industry. During the day he's Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Chase PersonnelServices...while he trains at nights and competes on weekends. Randy readily shares his winning strategy both on and off the track in workshops, churches, seminars and keynote speeches.Originally, Randy began running track at age 16 in Jamaica, winning numerous awards and trophies. While in high school, Randy also played cricket and soccer. From a family of eight children, competition came from within as it was expedted that everyone compete. Randy recieved his education at Murray State University in Kentucky earning degrees in both political science and sociology. Randy actively participates in community service with his support of the Trinity Life Center in Houston, Tx. This website is designed to better acquaint you with Randy as he strives to accomplish goals that only come true in dreams or in the movies. Randy is an international success story and an American dream all wrapped up in his five-foot eight-inch, yet larger than life frame. His ultimate goal is to excel beyond the limitations of our societal infrastructure which caters to the younger athlete, while proving that there are athletes working hard beyond the age of 30. Of course, he also plans on breaking the world record just to let everyone know that there is no such thing as too late!Today, success stories like these are few, but the public embraces them withgreat fervor.
