Technically, these are a similar set of moves to the Butterfly family, switching from front to back with the chains twirling circles outwards. Visually, though, the moves you can perform with this cross-over look quite different as the twirling directions of the chains are reversed and you can position the chains in a variety of places and heights around your body.
Starting position:
Twirling in time, backwards and in front.
To perform:
The easiest moves to perform with cross-over #4 are changing from front to back at waist height. With both chains twirling in the starting postition, try using the cross-over to spin one chain behind your back for a turn and then bringing it back in front, without losing the rhythm on the other chain. Then try crossing the other hand over behind your back, without losing momentum on the first hand. It shouldn't take too long to become pretty fluid at this.
Variations:
Switching Both From In Front to Behind
Swap both chains from in front to behind, to in front again, and so - a similar pattern to the overhead butterfly but performed at waist height.
Alternating Both From In Front to Behind
Alternate the chains continuously with one behind and one in front - similar to the alternate butterfly.
Add an Extra Turn
You can smoothly and easily add an extra turn behind your back - by rotating your hand behind your back with your little finger leading, you can throw in a really quick second turn when a chain is behind your back.
High and Low
Twirl higher and lower - as you alternate from front to back, you can move you hands from low positions behind your back to really high positions in front of you, with your hands appearing to 'slide' up and down your body.
