Leather Bucket's Install
Here are a few pictures of our leather bucket seats install. The seats that we used are out of an Acura Integra. I have to apologize for the darkness of the pictures though but hopefully they are clear enough and with a bit of explanation you will be able to see what we've done.
A) Here is the passenger seat as it looks in the tilted forward position. Camera facing towards the front of the vehicle.
Here's what we did:
1) Remove the stock seats and seat mounts.
2) Take the seats off of the mounts and toss 'em out (the seats, not the mounts). :)
3) Now... the Acura seats match up to the stock seat mounts only on one side. That meant that we had to make some kind of bracket to mount the other side. Since the Acura seats have bolt holes on the outside side of the seat we chose to bolt the inside of the seat (side towards the middle of the rig) to the stock seat mount and make some 'L' brackets to use to bolt the outside side of the seat to the stock seat mount.
B) Here is the passenger seat in it's normal position.
4) We used about a 5 inch long 1/4" steel and bent it into an 'L' shape with about 3 inches of length on the '_' of the 'L' and about 2 inches on the '|' of the 'L'. Then we marked the 'L' bracket and drilled the holes that would allow us to bolt it onto the seat mount and then to the side of the seat. We also rounded off the edges so that there weren't any sharp edges to catch on. You can see the brackets in the red circles in all three pictures (A, B, and C).
5) Because of the position of where the bracket is bolted to the stock mounts, the bolt head was sandwiched between the seat and the bracket. We used a dremel tool to cut a 1 inch square hole in the metal on the bottom of the seat so that the bolt head would sit up inside it.
6) Because of the thickness of the steel we used we had to shim up the other side of the seat so we used a stack of washers to shim it so both sides were equal. You can't see the washers in the pictures but their location is marked by the far left red circles in pictures A and C.
C) This picture shows the drivers seat. Camera facing towards the back of the vehicle.
7) After bolting up the brackets onto the seat mount, bolt the seat to the mounts and then bolt them into the vehicle.
8) Lastly, ride in style and comfort.
