The name Lennon is found in many areas from Glandore Harbor in Co. Cork to Co. Fermanagh. In English is used as a translation for a number of Irish names such as O Leanain, O Leannain , O Lionnain, O Loanain, or O Luinin.
The O'Lennon sept of Fermanagh was the most important as they were erenaghs of Lisgoole near Enniskillen.
In the US John Lennon (1768- 1846) and his ship Hibernia were important in the war of 1812 and John Brown Lennon (1850-1923) was a prominent Labor leader. John Lennon of the Beatles was assassinated in 1980.
