Cool Spy Gear

This is a kit of devices that were captured by the CIA from the KGB

Spys have several tools that they use to pass information betwean one another. One popualr method is to place notes in common looking objects. This bolt could be put in the place of another bolt and pass the note it contianed undetected. There are things of allmost endless variety that were made to look like somthing other than what they really were. Often the simple methods are the best.

When more complicated methods of comunication are needed the spy agencys come through in spades. This phone uses infrared beams of light to transmit the converation. This device is allmost interseption proof and flawless. The only drawbacks are that the transmitter and the recever need to be in line for it to work and that weather sometimes limits the transmition distance. This means that there is no way to intercept the conversation without being directly in line with both transmitters.

This is a camera that was made to look through a button hole in a coat. The theory is that if you cant make it look compleatly like somthing else then you shouldnt be able to see it. This lil guy could easily pass detection especialy when fitted with a button over the lense.

Every countery has money. With considerable skill and technology we created usefull devices that look like perfectly normal money. Who would think that in a pocket full of change there could be hideing (from left to right) a telephone bug, a penny that was actauly a knife or even a hollowed out silver dollar that could be holding anny number of things from important documents to pictures or even deadly poison.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, well when you need a tiny camera to capture that picture there isnt annything smaller than this. The micro dot camera is an inch long and takes pictures that are around a 10th of an inch big (see picture). While it may seem odd to have such a small camera and even smaller pictures there is good reason behind it. The camera is small enuf that it can be hidden in anny little pocket and with pictures that small you can hide them allmost annywere. Spys were found to have put the tinny pictures behind stamps on letters or poast cards.

Guns are still one on the best methods for killing people but we all know what a gun looks like dont we? Maby not. This pack of smokes to the right is a gun. One cigeret is the barrel while some others are fakes covering the gun parts and a few on the side are real. With a gun like this you could sneak it right up under someones nose and then bam there gone.

This gun looks like a lipstick case. It is fired by twisting a part of it and triggering the fireing mechanisem. Most guns like these only contained one small bullet and were good for only one shot. The range of the hidden guns was allso verry limited because the barrel had to be hidden it often was verry short. These guns were acurate to only a couple of feet. Some of these single shot guns were rubber coated so that they may be pushed into an oraface of the boddy and then taken out at a later time to be used. While this sounds gross it often was a way to slip a gun past security.

TEMPEST

The TEMPEST is a device that picks up radio-frequency radiation. Big deal you say well guess what your TV and computer screens have cathode tubes in them and those tubes give off this radiation. What the TEMPEST does is it receves this radiation like a radio signal and then decodes it and displays a clear picture of whatever the screen is showing. That means that someone could be looking at your screen right now and youd have no idea. The TEMPEST system allso works from hundreds of yards away to even a kilometer if the conditions are right. This device is allso imposible to detect because all it does is receve signals from your computer there is nothing to home in on and no signal to trace. After this was developed computers were equiped to minamize and/or scramble there TEMPEST signal.
