This is the story of my winter project, my 1989 FXR.

Living in INDIANA makes for long winters!

I will post pictures of my progress as they become available.

A 1989 FXR with a stock 1340 evo, I plan to freshen up the engine with a valve job, fresh rings and a cam!

Well here it is with 40,000 miles on it, not too bad but it just needs a little something???

I learned that I liked the looks of a stretched tank, so I did some research and found a one that would work. It was in the DRAG SPECIALTIES FATBOOK it cost me around $300 and it was rough, it would not even come close to holding air! And don't even think about buying this tank unless you have a MIG or TIG welder to plug the holes, even then you will have to grind all the existing welds. The body work is far from done when you get the tank, but for the money it beats a $1000 aluminum tank, (I got a budget ya know!).

It is a 2 inch stretch with a seat pocket that rises up into the tank area. It will be hard to buy a seat, so I will have to make one using a seat pan, also from DRAG SPECIALTIES . It is sold as a custom pan for streched tanks but it looked just like the stocker to me!

Well now I will send the seat pan to the trim shop and take the bare frame, tank and rear fender with it!
