'98 S-10 ZR2 Gas Mileage Statistics
Starting from the first tank of gas I have calculated my MPG numbers
on every tank that I have used. Unfortunately I discovered a
discrepancy in my fuel mileage numbers stemming from incorrectly
printed credit card receipts that I used to record my mileage. As a
result I have removed all previous figures and have started over
with a more accurate (if you want something done right, do it
yourself) method of recording mileage. My truck is factory original
with no performance modifications. It has an automatic transmission.
I run only 93 octane fuel.

I have added a column in the table above to indicate the driving
conditions encountered during each tank of gas. Although I have
not indicated where, many of the miles I drive include towing a
                lightweight personal watercraft trailer.
Highlighted in green are the best [18.013] and in red the worst
[16.017] MPG figures for the current set of data. See the bottom
                of the table for averages.
A subject that has been discussed amoung ZR2 owners and that
seems to be somewhat mis-understood is the advertised versus
actual fuel capacity of our trucks. When I followed a thread on
the ZR2 mailing list in the Summer of '98 about this topic I
decided to do a little investigating. I spoke with my cousin who
is an ASE Certified mechanic and has worked in several major
auto manufacturers service departments. Here is a copy of the
message that I submitted to the ZR2 list concerning this topic.
