DEC 16 - WOW! CB IN THE NEWS
The new special Double issue of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY (Russell Crowe on cover) lists Christian's performance in AMERICAN PSYCHO first in their Greatest Performances of 2000 - full page article and pic. They also mention the infamous chainsaw chase scene as Creepiest. Write 'em at Entertainment Weekly! The new issue of PEOPLE Magazine has a mini-article on Christian and a larger one on his dad and new spouse, Gloria Steinem. And last but not least, a couple letters got published in the new issue of PREMIERE (Brad Pitt on cover) protesting their erroneous use of search engines which left Christian out of the Top 20 E-Stars when we all know he's No. 1!

DEC 12 - EW OSCAR MISS!!
The current issue of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY (Tom Hanks on the cover) does an Oscar Watch article - but guess who's missing? Christian for AMERICAN PSYCHO! Write 'em at Entertainment Weekly!

OCT 23 - CORELLI SCORES GOOD BUZZ!

OCT 18 - FIGHTING FIRE WITH MCCONAUGHEY
The search is apparently over as Variety reports that Matthew McConaughey will be Christian's co-star in REIGN OF FIRE!

OCT 16 - PEOPLE, EW and NAME CHANGE
LIBRIUM has now become EQUILIBRIUM after the drug company that makes Librium decided that they didn't want a movie with their name on it. The current issue of PEOPLE Magazine (Celine Dion on the cover) features a mini-article on Christian as well as a paparazzi shot of Christian's dad and new wife, Gloria Steinem. And, the current issue of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY has a special EW Internet section that ranks this site with an A- review, making it the best of the official actor sites!!!

OCT 2 - LOTS OF NEWS!
The new issue of MOVIELINE ties Christian and Joaquin Phoenix as the two most villainous actors!:) Also, the special ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY INTERNET supplement has an article on Christian and his web site! The web site scores an 'A-' ranking, the highest of the lot!

Acclaimed make-up artist, Kevyn Aucoin, recently tapped his friend and Christian's wife, Sibi, to model for him in his new book, FACE FORWARD. Christian and the CBFC are supporting the Jubilee 2000 Coalition. What's that? Jubilee 2000 is an international movement in over 65 countries advocating a debt-free start to the Millennium for a billion people. They are calling for a one-off cancellation of the unpayable debts of the world's poorest countries by the end of the year 2000, under a fair and transparent process. SEPT 5 - CHRISTIAN'S DAD MARRIES FAMED FEMINIST
In a private ceremony in Oklahoma, Christian's dad, David Bale, married famed feminist and author, Gloria Steinem. Everyone of us at the CBFC wishes them the very best! Christian noted, "My father has been a longtime activist with a sincere belief that all people and creatures deserve equal opportunity, rights and respect. I'm very pleased that he's found in Gloria a partner who shares his lifelong passions and interests."

AUG 28 - FAN CLUB INSPIRATION
The fan club for the Christopher Reeve/Jane Seymour 1980 film, SOMEWHERE IN TIME, has managed to get the movie re-released theatrically this fall and to get a special Universal 20th Anniversary DVD issued after 11 years. MAY 26 - CHRISTIAN CHOSEN FOR ARK TRUST
Christian is delighted to announce that he has been chosen to be on the Honourary Board of Directors for Ark Trust, the animal rights organization which presents the annual Genesis Awards.

MAY 17 - SHAFT!
Who's the man who has another movie opening in less than a month? June 16th is the North American debut of .... SHAFT! AMERICAN PSYCHO is still No. 6 in England! Opens in France June 7th and across Europe this summer. And look for ANGELENO Magazine in the US - Christian is on the cover!

MAY 2 - AP GROSSES $12 MILLION TO DATE
For Weekend No. 3, AMERICAN PSYCHO came in at No. 14 in North America, grossing well over $12 million so far. A Variety article today analyzed the mixed results of an Internet-only marketing campaign.

APR 23 - AP BOX OFFICE ANALYSIS
For Weekend #2, AMERICAN PSYCHO came in No. 11 at the Box Office. As many movie buffs are analysing AMERICAN PSYCHO's box office performance, we turn to film critic and columnist, Peter Howell, who wrote earlier about AP box office and also noting that apparently, the AP email campaign from Lions Gate wasn't actually even written by Bret Easton Ellis!

APR 21 - CORELLI'S MANDOLIN - CHRISTIAN'S NEXT ROLE
Christian is expected to sign on with Universal Pictures new film, CORELLI'S MANDOLIN, based on the popular novel by Louis De Bernieres. He will star as Mandras, a Greek fisherman, alongside Penelope Cruz and Nicolas Cage who has the title role as Capt. Corelli. Set during WW2, CORELLI follows the tale of a small Greek island that is occupied by the Italian army. A young Greek woman (Cruz) who is engaged to a local fisherman (Bale) soon finds herself fascinated by the reluctant soldier, Corelli, who prefers to play his mandolin. To be directed by John Madden (SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE).

APR 21 - STAR WARS RUMOURS
Christian is rumoured by MSNBC to be up for the part of Anakin Skywalker in STAR WARS EPISODE II. While at age 26, he is older than Natalie Portman, he has played younger parts in METROLAND and ALL THE LITTLE ANIMALS. Fuelling the rumour is that Christian has also co-starred with Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor in VELVET GOLDMINE) and Shmee Skywalker (Pernilla August in MARY MOTHER OF JESUS).

APR 16 - PSYCHO WEEKEND
Thanks to strong reviews, AMERICAN PSYCHO opened at No. 7 this weekend in the Top 10 Box Office and No. 2 by per-screen average. Remember the movie opened on a limited number of screens - almost one third the number of screens that a mainstream movie like 28 DAYS opened on. On Christian's site, audience feedback shows that 62% of you gave the movie an A while another 23% gave it a B.

APR 16 - TIME OUT NY

APR 13 - SHAFT PREVIEW

APR 12 - ANOTHER SOUNDTRACK TALE
Seems that Huey Lewis may not have been scared of the movie after all! Now, it's reported that permission was not granted to use the song 'Hip to be Square' on the soundtrack and THAT's why it's been withdrawn! Read the story.

Check your local TV listings as Christian is on CHARLIE ROSE on Thursday with Mary Harron and Bret Easton Ellis, ACCESS HOLLYWOOD on Thursday, and E! on Thursday or Friday at 6:30pm.

APR 11 - IF YOU GOT IT, FLAUNT IT!
Christian appears on the April cover of FLAUNT Magazine. Big article, lots more pix! It's a tricky cover though - there's another cover over this cover that makes it look like Christian is peeking through window blinds!

APR 11 - AP SOUNDTRACK RECALLED
Huey Lewis' song Hip to Be Square, which is featured prominently in the movie, is being deleted from the soundtrack. So, all CDs in stores have been withdrawn. Apparently, Huey Lewis is protesting the violence in the movie. Read the article here.

Guess who's on the cover of FANGORIA Magazine? Ewwww!!! And this British webzine has an article as well as AP wallpaper! Check out the April issue of GQ Magazine for a huge article on Christian wearing kewl clothes from Armani. And the April issue of Interview Magazine (Hilary Swank on the cover) has a lengthy interview with lots of cool pix! More April and May issues of different magazines are just about ready to hit the stands!

Mar 8 - AP PROMOTION NOT BALE
A promotion at the AMERICAN PSYCHO web site promises "email from Patrick Bateman". Lots of people have been asking if this means that they'll be getting email from Christian himself! That's definitely not the case. That email promotion is to get emailed chapters of an online book called AM PSYCHO 2000 written by the original author, Bret Easton Ellis. The promotion itself has been criticized as tasteless by one of AMERICAN PSYCHO's biggest fans, the Toronto Star film critic, Peter Howell, who praised the film at Sundance (Click here for his review). Mar 1 - RATINGS! BANNERS!

The March issue of W Magazine has a 2-page article on Christian. (Don't know if this is instead of the feature in April!) Unfortunately, the writer has chosen to mention the negative Hollywood Reporter AMERICAN PSYCHO review rather than the other positive reviews! Write them here! Feb 13 - FLA LAWYER THREATENS LAWSUIT
The Florida lawyer, who is suing Time-Warner and the makers of THE BASKETBALL DIARIES, has now threatened to sue AMERICAN PSYCHO's distributor if the rating is not changed back to NC-17. Read the USA Today story.

Feb 7 - RELEASE DATE NEWS
AMERICAN PSYCHO is delayed a week for an April 14th release (due to some more time in the editing room!). ALL THE LITTLE ANIMALS comes out on video Feb 29th - we'll be running a contest to promote the release so check back often!

Feb 3 - AMERICAN PSYCHO TO BE CUT
The MPAA denied an appeal of the NC-17 rating given to the movie because of the sex scene involving Patrick Bateman and two hookers. The movie will be re-edited to get an R rating before its April release.

Jan 31 - Age of Aquarius
2000 brings a special year for Christian. He's in tons of upcoming magazines - look for them!!! FILMMAKER (Jan), CHANNELS (April), W (Men's section, April), GEORGE (April), GEAR (April), USA WEEKEND (April 7th weekend). Plus lots more!

Jan 30 - Happy Birthday and congrats!!!
A very Happy Birthday wish to our favourite actor - Christian - who turns 26 today! And what a special birthday it is too! Christian married his girlfriend this weekend.

Jan 17 - AP RATED NC-17
AMERICAN PSYCHO was rated NC-17 by the American MPAA. NC-17 is the strictest rating by the censor board, meaning that no one under the age of 17 may see. Surprisingly, the rating was issued because of SEX not VIOLENCE - it was reported that a sex scene involving Christian and 2 actresses triggered the NC-17. While the rating is being appealed, newsgroup chatters are theorizing that this is simply a pre-Sundance publicity stunt.

Scotland the Bale. EMPIRE ONLINE reported that Christian is selling his flat in Los Angeles and getting new digs in Edinburgh, Scotland after spending a great Christmas/New Year's holidays there.

Tonight Show. Hey? Why hasn't the Tonight Show had Christian on as a guest yet? Let's write 'em!!!

Jan 6 - UK DELAY for AP
UK Baleheads will have to wait a few months as the release date for AMERICAN PSYCHO has been pushed back from March 2000 to early Summer instead. For the lucky ones going to Sundance - click here for the Sundance screening times and locations.

Jan 4 - WHAT A MONTH!
