Battery Irons had two 4.7-inch pedestal mounted guns. Named after
1st Lt Joseph F Irons who was killed during the Mexican War in 1847.

Battery Mudge had two 3-inch masking parapet guns. Named after
2nd Lt Robert R Mudge who was killed in 1835 during battle with Florida's Seminoles.
