Battery Sykes has been demolished and was located in the parking area
next to Battery Hartshorne. It had two 3-inch pedestal mounted guns. Named after
Major General George Sykes of the US Volunteers who served with distinction during
the Mexican and Civil Wars.

Battery Hartshorne had two 6-inch disappearing guns. Named after Captain
Benjamin M Hartshorne Jr who was killed in 1902 during an uprising in the Philippines.
