The sun is shining, the birds are singing, the flowers are blooming... Yes.. It is so poetic, is it not? This would seem like heaven to morning people.. Bright little rays of sunshine, aren't they. People who wake up early, slowly getting ready for the day and all the while whistling a happy tune. UGH! (*grimace*) Aside from these kinds of people, there is "US". The night owls. We are the ones you find waking up on the wrong side of the bed, grunting loudly and complaining about a mild headache (probably a hangover). Some of us might still be wearing clothes from last night because we were too drunk to change, or we might go directly to the kitchen in our rumpled pajamas, tousled hair, looking for a nice mug of hot strong coffee. Now all of us in my family are nightowls. We start the day at eleven in the morning, though still a bit sleepy. Sometimes we even find ourselves biting each others' heads off, turning it into the usual shouting match (*snigger*). If one of us is hungry since it's near lunch we reluctantly go off to get ready and eat lunch out. Then in the afternoon, we gradually get color into our cheeks as we go to our respective workplaces and do our thing. Now at night, that's when we come alive. This is the time I get my best ideas and in my brothers' case, insights. Even now that I am writing this, it's 11:30 in the evening. It's too early to go home.
So usually at this time I call some of my friends for a night out. When
starving, we just grab a bite at a barbecue stand or a 24 hour joint.
Afterwards, we go clubbing. But if we want some quiet time, one of us will
just buy some drinks and go to our favorite spot beside the beach and here
in Tacloban, it's Magsaysay Boulevard.
Magsaysay Boulevard is a
roadway that o On bad nights, sometimes something goes wrong. Fights would break out among gangs from other groups near us. There are even accidents or ruined relationships. But even with all the commotion, in the end, it turns all right. At 4 or 5 in the morning nearing sunrise, we all decide to call it a day and head on home. Some of us would be singing, crying, drunk, or passed out. (I would, of course, be singing.) I'd get home and get some sleep. All in all I'd think it was a great night with good memories. Then I'd wake up at 11 or 12 in the morning. I'll get my strong coffee and start my usual routine, all the while ignoring the sun, the birds, and the flowers..
