Kilar, (Tekla) Filomena (b. 20 SEP 1886, d. 22 FEB 1969)
Note: Filimena Kilar traveled to this country with her sister Adela, her brother Tomasz and his wife Bronislawa, and her cousin Karolina Holowiecki 's husband Marcin Rybeszke. On board ship she met Katejan Markiewicz. The shipboard romance blossomed and after arriving in Detroit they married.

Note: Shortly after the birth of her first child Mieczyslaw, Adela, being homesick for her family in Obertyn, came home with her baby for a visit. She returned June 12, 1912 aboard the SS Kaiserin Auguste Victoria accompanied by her sister Helena Zuzanna and her cousin Helena Kilar. The 7 month old baby Mieczyslaw became ill on the voyage and died. He was buried at sea.

(received Medal of Purple Heart), transferred to Hospital ship that was torpedoed and
sank and than transferred to a life boat. Spent two months in hospital. Involved in battle in
Tunisia, then Sivily, Salernobeach head and Monte Casino. Knocked unconcious on
Anzio Beach head, rescued after 24 hours. (back pack and rifle were destroyed in the
blast). Developed Malaria and was returned to the U.S. to Camp Edwards.

Note: On a trip to Obertyn in 1971, Zdzislawa Baraniecka met Antoni Matkowski (Paulina Baraniecki's son), who was visiint family while on vacation from his home Kazakhstan.
Note: Friedrich Wilhelm Kroll, known as Frederick Kroll arrived at the Port of New York on June 19, 1913 on SS Imperator. His 1st arrival to the United States was on October 17, 1912 at the age of 23. He arrived on the SS President Grant. His sister Augusta also arrived on the same ship. However, Friedrich was deported.
