Collegial Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
The Way to Peace
Consecation * Offering * Reparation
(COR)
First Saturday, 5 August 2000 We have recourse to your protection, holy Mother of God!
9:00 AM
As we utter the words of this antiphon with which the Church of Christ has prayed for cneturies, we find ourselves today before you, Mother, in the Great Jubilee Year of our Salvation.
We find ourselves united as Pastors of the Philippine Church in a particular bond whereby we constitute a domestic church united with the see of Peter.
In the bond of this union, we repeat the words of the present Act, uttered by our Holy Father Pope John Paul II when he consecrated the world to your Immcaulate Heart, in which to include the hopes and anxieties of the Filipino nation and people.
Our Filipinio people are before our eyes today, Muslims, Christians, and Lumads as enter into the Third Millenium, as a divided nation in a crisis of unpeace. Yet, we are a naton called to mission in the world, " to proclaim the Good News, to carry the light of Christ to the nations".
And therefore, O Mother of individuals and peoples, you who know of our sufferings and our hopes, you who have a mother's awareness of all the struggles between good and evil, between light and darkness, which afflict our nation, accept the cry which we, moved by the Holy Spirit, address directly to your Heart. Embrace, with the love of the Mother and Handmaid of the Lord, this human world of ours, which we entrust and consecrate to you, for we are full of conern for the earthly and eternal destiny of our naiton and its people.
In a special way, wen entrust and consecrate to you ourselves and all our people, Christians, Muslims and Lumads, leaders and ordinary citizens, combatants and civilians, those who perpetrate war and the victims of war, all those that need to be thus entrusted and consecrated.
We have recourse to your protection, holy Mother of God: despise not our petitions in our necessities.
Behold as we stand before you, Mother of Christ, before your Immaculate Heart, we desire, together with the whole Church, to unite ourselves with the consecration which for love of us, your Son made of Himself to the Father, " For their sake", he said, " I consecrate myself that they also may be consecrated in the truth."(Jn 17,9). We wish to unite ourselves and our Filipino people with our Redemeer in this consecration for the world and for the human race, which , in his divine heart, has the power to obtain pardon and to secure repartion.
The power of this consecration lasts for all time and embraces all individuals, peoples and natins including our own. It overcomes every evil that the spirit of darkness is able to awaken, and has infact awakened in out times and in our land.
How deeply we feel the need for the consecration of our humanity and our people -- our dear Philippines -- in union with Christ himself. For the redeeming work of Christ must be shared in by the world trhough the Church, especially during this Great Jubilee Year.
Above all creatures, amy you be blessed, you the Handmaid of the Lord, who in the fullest way obeyed the divine call.
Hail to you, who are wholly united to the redeeming consecration of your Son!
Mother of the Church! Enlighten the People of God along the paths of faith, hope and love! Help us to live in the truth of the conscration of Christ for the entire human family of our nation and of the whole wordl.
In entrusting to you, O Mother, our land, all individuals and peoples, we also entrust to you this very consecration of our nation, placing it in your motherly Heart.
Immaculate Heart! Help us to conquer the menace of evil, which so easily takes root in the hearts of people of today, and whose immesurable effects already weigh down upon our modern world and seem to block the paths towards the future!
Deliver us
Accept, O Mother of Christ, this cry laden with the sufferings of all individual Filipinos, laden with the sufferings of aour society.
- From famine and war,
- From fratricidal war, from incalculable self-destruction, from every kind of war.
- From sins against life of persons from its very beginning
- From hatred and from the demeaning of the dignity of children of God.
- From every kind of injustice in the life of our society, against our Christian, Muslim and Lumad brothers, and the poor of our land.
- From readiness to trample on the commandments of God.
- From the attempts to stiffle in human hearts the very truth of God.
- From the loss of awareness of good and evil.
Help us with the power of the Holy Spirit to conquer all sin: individual sin and the "sin of the world", sin in all its manifestations.
Let there be revealed, once more, in the history of our nation the infinite saving power of the Redemption; the power of merciful Love! May it put a stop to evil! May it transform consciences! May your Immaculate Heart reveal for all the light of Hope!
Amen.
