SYNOPSIS

Hannah Miller was a small-town nurse whose difficult life and failed marriage had caused her to become addicted to pills and almost kill herself. A near-death experience changed her life and she became a minister.

Now at her first parish, she struggled to rebuild her life and help others in need. Her young son Brian was cheerful and helpful, but her self-absorbed teenage daughter Jenny was not - she called herself agnostic, complained about their new life and took up with Link, a scruffy 19-year-old musician/drifter she found in the park.

Other's in Hannah's life were: Harry, a blustery attorney and former boyfriend who still cared for her and who was a father figure to her kids; Dominick, a tough local cop who could be faced down, however; Yvonne, an understanding former colleague from the emergency room where Hannah had worked and Arthur Sutherland, a stiff-necked deacon at her church who opposed her appointment and was suspicious of her abilities.
