SYNOPSIS

As a child, Steven Spielberg was a very big fan of such TV anthologies as The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits and One Step Beyond. He began his career at a young age of only 21 as a director of the pilot for Rod Serling's Night Gallery, and first gained attention in 1971 for his unusual TV movie, Duel, starring Dennis Weaver as a man battling at mysterious black truck in the desert. He moved onto the big screen to create some of the biggest films in Hollywood history such as: E.T., Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

In 1985, NBC lured him back to produce a series that was supposed to mark the revival of the anthologies he grew up with - It didn't, but during its two-year run, Amazing Stories did provide innovative, scary and sometimes whimsical short films from some of Hollywood's leading celebrities - people who otherwise had little to do with TV.

Episode directors included Steven himself ("Ghost Train," & "The Mission"), Martin Scorsese, Clint Eastwood, Paul Bartel and Burt Reynolds. Guest stars included: Drew Barrymore, Sid Caesar, Kevin Costner, Mark Hamill, Milton Berle, Sam Waterston, David Carradine and Charlie Sheen.
