SYNOPSIS
A news magazine that offered a mix of informative and sometimes amusing investigative reports and features. Starting in mid-June, a weekly segment on the developing O.J. Simpson murder case was added.
The show's one distinguishing feature was a segment in which a guest commentator "sounded off" on an issue of current interest followed by a live segment in which home viewers could phone in their reactions to the commentary.
Although originally planned for each episode, in actuality, these "sound off" sessions only aired occasionally. Some more memorable ones included: former Vice President Dan Quayle commenting on the public's reaction to his "Murphy Brown" speech about single-mother households and welfare; author Ishmael Reed talking about the positive and negative exposure blacks get in broadcast media and Susan Estrich denouncing high-profile murder cases that made the defendants seem like the victims.
