SYNOPSIS

Cody and Nick were two Southern California beach bums who decided to go into the private detective business. Working from Cody's boat, the Riptide, docked at Pier 56 in King's Harbor (Redondo Beach, CA), or from their hangout, the Straightaways Restaurant, they had two advantages over the competition: Cody's speedboat, the Ebbtide, and Nick's aging helicopter - a Sikorsky painted pink with a gaping mouth on the front - called the Screaming Mimi.

They had another person working with them, an army buddy named Boz, a computer nerd who was a genius with electronics - most of the time. He could never get his computerized robot, Roboz, to work right.

The three of them handled cases that involved explosions, high-speed chases and beautiful, bikini-clad girls. Sometimes they enlisted the help of Mama Jo and the all-girl crew of her charter boat, the Barefoot Contessa, which was docked next to theirs. The Dool was a dockboy who occasionally did some of their gopher work.
