SYNOPSIS

Jake Rizzo was a typical bachelor cop: hard-working and dedicated - complete with no personal life and messy apartment. Enter a polite but determined 10-year-old bundle of energy named Ernie. Ernie was left on his doorstep by his dying Grandfather who had seen Jake through a window and thought he'd make a good foster father for the parentless child.

Ernie was a pint-sized karate expert, able to drop a whole crowd of big bad guys with his flying feet and who was also gifted with mystical powers bestowed on him by his Grandfather Sabasan, who, before he died, passed on the Patasani title of "The Last Electric Knight."

All of this seemed dubious to grumpy Jake, not to mention social worker Patricia, who was all set to put Ernie into an orphanage. But one does not argue with Electric Knights, so Jake became a foster dad, coping with Ernie's enthusiasm for a new life as well as with his occasional loneliness for his Grandfather and his Asian cultural heritage.

Ernie was constantly involved in Jake's cases, where his martial arts expertise and mystical powers often saved the day. Patricia stayed around to help out and provided some much needed female companionship for Jake.

Young actor Ernie Reyes, Jr. was in real life a juvenile black belt. The karate sequences in the show were choreographed by his father, Ernie Reyes, Sr.
