SYNOPSIS
Det. Sgt. Chad Smith was a Los Angeles plainclothes police officer who had been with the department 25 years. He mostly worked on burglaries, runaway kids, drug busts, bomb threats and sometimes homicides.
His family included: his wife, Betty; Cindy, his 18-year-old, L.A.City College student daughter with marriage on her mind; Bob, his 15-year-old son and his 7-year-old son, Brian.
Stories were centered around the generation gap and the problems of youth and also on Chad's policework, which did include some tense moments for the family but not really much to worry about in the end. Captain Hughes and his partner, Sgt. Martin, were seldomly seen.
