Strange Report featured the use of advanced scientific analytic methods as aids in the solution of complex crimes.

Adam Strange was renowned in most of the world as being the foremost authority on the workings of the criminal mind. Operating out of his flat in the Paddington section of London, he took on special "problem" cases that the British Government could not afford to be officially involved with.

Adam and Ham Gynt, his American companion and assistant, traveled around town in Adam's unlicensed English taxicab working on cases. Gynt was a former Rhodes Scholar whose real job was in the research department of a London museum. Evelyn McLean, one of Adam's neighbors, was a model and aspiring artists whose friendship with him got her involved in many of his strange cases.
