SYNOPSIS
S.W.A.T. stood for Special Weapons And Tactics, whose job it was to handle usually violent situations that regular police couldn't with whatever weaponry was necessary. All Vietnam veterans, the S.W.A.T. team dressed in semi-military attire and were organized along the lines of a front-line patrol.
Some the cast included: Lt. Harrelson, the Commanding Officer; Sgt. Kay, the observer and communicator; Jim, the team scout; Dominic, the marksman and T.J., the backup. Often the young junior officers were a bit too eager to use their weapons and Harrelson had to hold them back. The team traveled in a specially equipped van.
S.W.A.T. was filmed in Southern California and based loosely on real-life S.W.A.T. teams formed in several large American cities.
