SYNOPSIS

Life was one disaster after another for the medics of Trauma Center. There were three or four "traumas" per show, ranging from:  golfers struck by lightning, victims of an explosion at a singles bar, an injured construction worker stuck in a high rise, a skyscraper climber whose foot slipped and students mangled when the roof caved in on their high school prom.

Doctor "Cutter" Royce dealt with all these emergencies at the McKee Hospital Trauma Center, which had been set up to make maximum use of the "golden hour" - the first 60 minutes following an accident, in which many victims can be saved by fast action.

Helping Dr. Royce at the center and on the scene were:  doctors Baylor, Bouvier and Blaine; nursing supervisor, Amy Decker and her ingenuous assistant Hooter; helicopter pilot Buck and ambulance drivers Hatter and John Six. Six was played by brawny Lou Ferrigno, whose real-life partial deafness and halting speech was used to its advantage in a story about a young boy coming to terms with his own accident-induced deafness. Dr. Sternhauser was the hospital administrator with whom Cutter was constantly fighting for new equipment and additional funds.
