SYNOPSIS
Eric Cord was a graduate student in college whose life took a bizarre twist when his best friend Ted asked him to kill him with a gun loaded with a silver bullet - Ted was a werewolf! Eric thought his friend was crazy but was forced to oblige when Ted turned into a werewolf and attacked him. Eric was bitten in the struggle and found that he was now afflicted with the werewolf curse. The only way to "cure" himself of it was to find and kill "the source of the bloodline," the mysterious Captain Janos Skorzeny. Eric set out on a cross-country hunt for Skorzeny while he, in turn, was being tracked by bounty hunter Alamo Joe. Eric was now prone to turn into a werewolf under the full moon, but fortunately for the citizens, he only seemed to attack criminals, evil people and other werewolves!
Eric finally found and killed Skorzeny - but that wasn't enough. It turned out the source of the bloodline was actually Nicholas Remy, a powerful and diabolical 2,000-year-old werewolf. Eric's quest to rid himself of the curse continued. Viewers never found out if he succeeded since the series was cancelled soon after Remy's arrival.
Werewolf was a very visual series with vivid and terrifying special effects. The Fox network promoted the show heavily during the fall of 1987, and announcements were aired giving viewers a toll-free number to call if they sighted a real werewolf. More than 400,000 calls were received. Later announcements featured Dr. Stephen Kaplan, a para-psychology instructor who provided information about werewolves.
