PFB FAQ Page

This list was started with the intentions of having a place to discuss all things Pink Floyd & Floyd related. A place to share, through trading & treeing, the live music of the band & the live music of it's individual members & their solo careers. As such, we thought it wise to establish a FAQ to help set guidelines for posting to the list & guidelines for trading by list members.
Posting Guidelines:
Posts should have some Floyd content, related to trading through the list or list related.
Posts looking for trades or begs for B&P are allowed.
Posts relating to the list trees are allowed.
Posts searching for lost contacts from list, relating to trees or trades are allowed.
Posts alerting the list to questionable traders are allowed.
Posts of rebuttal to bad trader posts are allowed.
Neither of the above two will be allowed to turn into a flaming war.
Posts alerting the list to honest traders are allowed & encouraged.
Personal posts, non Floyd related posts & flame posts are not allowed!
The goal of these guidelines is not to inhibit the flow of free speech or ideas, but to foster a sense of community & sharing amongst list members. We are all here to have fun with this list so please, let's keep it fun!

Trading & tree branch Guidelines:
If trading or branching a tree on CDR you must be able to do DAO, so that there are no 2 second gaps between songs. Using EAC is greatly encouraged, This helps assure an exact digital copy of the source & helps to eliminate pops & other digi anomalies introduced during the burn. Media should be agreed upon before burning.
If recording from analog: no fast dubs, no dolby unless requested. No use of used tapes or type I tapes. Media should be agreed upon before recording. It is good practice to unpack - fast FWD & rewind tapes before use. Levels should be set between +3 1/2 & +5 decibels.
Costs of blank CDR media & analog tapes are close. Cassettes in many cases actually cost more. Therefore:
We encourage trades of 1 for 1 when trading CDR for CDR
We encourage trades of 1 for 1 when trading cassette for cassette.
We encourage trades of 1 for 1 when trading CDR for Cassettes. However, 3 cassette for 2 CDR is acceptable when trading CDR for cassettes.
When doing B&P we encourage 1 for 1. The recipient should include a self addressed stamped (NO METER STRIPS) bubble mailer for the return of shows.
2 for 1 is acceptable for B&P, but in these cases the burner/recorder should pay the return postage costs.
The exchange of money is discouraged. Especially to make substantial profit from a trade or B&P. No one should be making profit from list trading. However in the case of overseas trading, the exchange of money will sometimes expedite a trade. Especially in the area of postage cost differentials or problems arising from postage & is acceptable.
When trading Video, 2 for 1 are acceptable when trading video for CDR or video for cassette. Video for video should be traded 1 for 1.
We encourage 1 for 1 trades when trading DAT for DAT or VIDEO for DAT.
The Selling of shows on cassete, DAT or CDR is discouraged. However the selling of released recordings on original LP, cassette, CD or video is allowed. The selling of related memorabilia is allowed. The selling of original Bootleg material is acceptable.
We encourage 1 for 1 trades between list members whenever feasible or possible. This to help foster a sense of community & sharing amongst list members.
If you are are a branch on a list tree & you do not follow through on your responsibilities to your children. You will not be allowed to branch for future trees.
If you are trading through this list & are found to not follow through with your end of trades you will be removed from the list!
We have no room for bad traders & rip off traders on this list! It goes against everything we are trying to do with this list & will not be tolerated! If you are experiencing problems with a trader or your branch for a particular tree, please try 1st to work it out yourselves. Sometimes legitimate problems arise. However if no resolution is found or if your emails to trader go unanswered, posts to the list about problem are acceptable. In the case of trees, please contact the tree administrator 1st to see if some resolution may be reached before posting to the list. Please do not send bad trader posts frivolously. Be a little patient & be sure you can expect no resolution from the trader in question before posting! If you are concerned or do not agree with any guidelines contained within this FAQ, or feel that something not covered needs to be addressed, feel free to address your concerns or disagreements to either the list moderator or by posting to the list. We are sure that we missed some things while putting this together! We want this FAQ & list to be democratic & hope that it reflects the needs & concerns of the list menbers. We are open to changes &/or additions to this FAQ so long as they reflect a consensus of the list members. Let's discuss your concerns through the list.
With all this necessary unpleasantness out of the way, let's all help to allow this list to grow! It is our community, let's build it with trust & sharing & remember this is supposed to be an enjoyable hobby! Let's have fun with it!
Thanks & peace to all, The Mgmt.
